Experimental investigation of shock–shock interactions with variable inflow Mach number

چکیده
Abstract Experiments on shock–shock interactions were conducted in a transonic–supersonic wind tunnel with variable free-stream Mach number functionality. Transition between the regular interaction (RI) and (MI) was induced by variation of free-steam for fixed geometry, as opposed to most previous studies where shock generator angles are varied at constant number. In this paper, we present systematic flow-based post-processing methodology schlieren data that enables an accurate tracking evolving system including precise reproducible detection RI $$\rightleftarrows $$ ? However, show establishing values flow deflections besides is crucial achieve agreement von Neumann criterion, since measured deviated significantly, up $$1.2^{\circ }$$ 1 . 2 ? , from nominal wedge angles. We also report study focusing focal plane supported image processing providing insights into three-dimensional side-wall effects integrated images.

Experimental and Numerical Aeroacoustic Investigation of Impinging Flows at Low Mach Number
This work presents the development of methods for the experimental and numerical investigation of flow-induced noise. Moreover it offers a systematic validation and comparison of various numerical prediction techniques for small Mach number aeroacoustics. The work is motivated from the need to validate all the calculation steps of aeroacoustic simulations beyond pure analytical solutions. This ...
متن کاملMore Tests with a Variable Ramp Intake having a Design Mach Number of 2.2
SUMMARY Results are repvted of tests on a two-dimensional combined external/internal compressIon Intake having a design Mach number of 2.2. The particular parameters investigated in the tests now reported are:-(a) sidewall bleed, (b) a 3 to 1 range of free stream Reynolds number, (cl the length of subsonic diffuser, Cd) sidewalls out back to the line of the second ramp shock. The maximum pressu...
متن کاملQuasiperpendicular High Mach Number Shocks.
Shock waves exist throughout the Universe and are fundamental to understanding the nature of collisionless plasmas. Reformation is a process, driven by microphysics, which typically occurs at high Mach number supercritical shocks. While ongoing studies have investigated this process extensively both theoretically and via simulations, their observations remain few and far between. In this Letter...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation on Shock Wave and Turbulent Boundary Layer Interactions in a Square Duct at Mach 2 and 4
In order to investigate the supersonic internal flows with shock waves, a new supersonic wind tunnel (pressure-vacuum type, Mach 2.0 and 4.0) was designed and constructed in Muroran Institute of Technology. This paper describes firstly outlines of the new Mach 4 supersonic wind tunnel, and describes secondly the location, structure and characteristics of the Mach 2 and 4 pseudo-shock waves in a...
